FAQ

  • Can I expense my mileage?

Yes, if you are driving to Vail, DISH will reimburse DISH employees for mileage. Although you may leave from home on Friday morning, mileage is generally calculated from the office to your hotel. Please submit expense reports promptly after you return from the retreat. Please use this link to find additional details on submitting your expense report.

  • How do I get credit for attending the CLE presentations?

We are in the process of seeking CLE accreditation in Colorado for the Friday programs. Please check back in the weeks following the retreat for the Colorado CLE Certificate, which we will post here (and also will send via email). You will need to use the Course ID number to self-report in Colorado using the cletrack.com website.

If you would like to seek accreditation in a different state, you are welcome to try to do so. Please check with each state for information about how to go about doing so. If you need additional documentation, please let us know.

  • When should I arrive and where?

You do not need to go into the office on Friday morning, so please plan to arrive at your assigned hotel on Friday with enough time to be at The Lodge at Vail around 11:30am for lunch. Our CLE programming begins at 12:30pm for DISH employees and outside counsel—your significant other can check out this page if they need ideas for the afternoon.

You should have received an email from a member of the Retreat Committee with information regarding your assigned hotel. If you are not staying at The Lodge at Vail, please go to your assigned hotel first and park your car before walking over to The Lodge at Vail for lunch.

Valet parking can get a little backed up between 11am and 11:30am as we’re a big group, so feel free to come a little earlier to allow sufficient time for arrival and please be patient with the valets. We recommend bringing some petty cash to tip your valet drivers and bellhops.

  • What should I wear?

Attire for presentations and meals is casual/business casual (jeans are ok).

You are encouraged to wear a 1920s/Great Gatsby themed outfit for the Casino Night event on Saturday night.

Check the attached flyers for attire recommendations for Saturday’s activities.

The most important thing you need to know about Vail in September is that it can still get pretty hot during the day (especially in the sun - bring sunscreen), but it can get pretty chilly in the mornings and evenings. So, the bottom line is you need layers!

Some of the hotels have pools and/or hot tubs, so you may want to bring a swimsuit, too.

  • Is my significant other invited on Friday night?

Our dinner at The 10th on Friday night is only for DISH employees and outside counsel.

Vail has great dining options for your significant others and we encourage them to meet each other on Friday afternoon while employees and outside counsel are attending CLEs. Perhaps some of them will be able to form small groups and make dinner plans for Friday night at one of the restaurants in town. They can also visit this page for ideas of things to do in Vail.

  • What time are Saturday activities?

Our activities start at various times and many include a commute. Please be sure to look at all of the details for your designated event in advance and plan accordingly. Even if you think you’re sure, please double check times and locations as we don’t want you to miss your activity.

For full details regarding your activity that includes a list of other participants, please visit the "Who's Who?" password protected page, navigate to "Activities," and click the link for your activity.

  • Who should I contact in case of a last minute issue?

The contact information for the members of the Retreat Committee is available on the Who’s Who? page. We will do our best to deal with issues that arise, but there are things that are out of our control with a retreat of this size, so please be patient if things aren’t perfect.

  • May I bring my kids to meals and events?

Unfortunately not—the events at the retreat are only for EchoStart employees, outside counsel, and on Saturday night, their designated significant other is also welcome to attend.

Many of the activities on Saturday are great for the whole family. Although the costs for activities (if applicable) are only covered for you and your significant other, you are welcome to purchase your own tickets for your children if they will be with you in Vail.

  • Are there meal vouchers this year?

We will not be providing meal vouchers for the 2024 retreat.

  • What if my guest and I come up in more than one car?

Due to limited parking space at the hotels, we are limited to one car per room.

Additional vehicles may be parked in the Vail public parking lot at your own expense.

  • How do I get into the "Who's Who?" section of the website?

For privacy, we have password protected the Who’s Who? section of this website. You should receive an email from a member of the Retreat Committee, which provides the password. If you did not receive it, please text Cassidy at (303) 523-2663.

Please use the same password for both the Who’s Who? webpage, as well as the Retreat Committee Contacts page within that section of the website.

  • I'm mountain biking on Saturday -- where do I get my voucher for the bike rental?

Please go to the Lionshead Ticket Office to get a voucher for your bike rental before going to Vail Sports - Vail Mountain Plaza to pick up your bike.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BIKE RENTAL PICK-UP LOCATION IS DIFFERENT THAN IN 2023.
